Day 8

PI beginners spreadsheet!

My spreadsheet that I use for Planetary Interaction. Before I used to enter all the formulas by hand and it was ok for me, but no use to others, since they didn't know how to use it. This time I put some work into it and made it so that anyone can use it. I have been working on this for the past 4 days. There are still a few thinks that need my attention, but overall it looks good.

      Features:

  • Automatic price updates
  • A clear design
  • EVE API integration
  • easy to use drop down menus

  1. Select Planet
  2. Select Schematic
  3. Select No. of Proccessors
  4. Import/Extract
  5. Set the TAX rate

Try it out: Link

  1. Nice spreadsheet. Found an issue I think with it. Copied it and entered my own vCode, but the third planet section on the first page still shows the previous values. Think this is because I only have two characters on this account.

  2. It works as intended. The last section was probably set to (manual) 4 planets. Change it to "Auto" and it will display correctly.

  3. I tried it out, cant change planet information to match what my toons are producing.... after checking some of the formula's it looks like this is just a demo .... I guess your going to charge people for this or maybe uploaded the wrong sheet.

It still looks nice and would probably be handy for people learning Eve or learning PI.

  4. It says DEMO, but only because it is bundled with the tutorial. It has no limitations.

The inability to select planets is a bug in google docs. Got to "Options" tab and scroll down to the bottom. This will load the whole page and enable the planet selection.

    1. I think I figured it.

Some instructions posted on what to do if this happens/or doesnt happen..FAQ's, basic user instructions would be handy (not that someone cant figure it out but some documentation goes a long long way)

    2. Yes I'll have to do that. The whole Blog and Spreadsheet are in a "under development" state. I plan to release the blog and the spreadsheet somewhere on the 21-22 February.

You are basically participating in a BETA version of the whole project ^_^

    3. I have noticed a few things while playing with the planet setups

1: the sheet does not always correctly indicate the planet information on the "demo" sheet (the item is not correct but seems the rest of the information is)

2: there is no way to set up factory planets that produce from raw material (thus saving the import/export tax of p1/p2/p3 products)

3: customs office vs launch to space , also the fact that the tax rate could be different at each customs office

I know this is a work in progress and it give a general picture of what one "could" make from producing different PI materials.

      Hope this helps

  6. Yo, thanx for making this. I just downloaded it and I am trying to figure out how it works. Should this work with Open office as well?

    1. I did't try it. Might have to put prices in manually then. To use the spreadsheet you only need a google account which is free and any modern web Browser. Follow the steps in the HELP Tab of the spreadsheet.

  7. I removed my keyID and vCode because I plan to use the characters in my homesystem now(wormhole).

  8. The latest version of the Spreadsheet is "PI Demo 0.9"

  9. Hi, hope you can help. When I entered my api I noticed that there were some anonymous 'observers' who had access to the information I had inputted. There were 2 observers listed in the refreshed browser page; when I hit the 'find out more information on this' link, it said that this was because either page was linked to a mailing list, or ...something else I can't remember. I've tried to give as much info as possible without recreating the issue. I'll probably try again on a trial account and post images here if it helps. I've promptly deleted all my api keys to be safe. Any comments?

    1. For you to be able to edit the Spreadsheet you had to make a copy for yourself. As far as I know only you have access to it at the time when you create it.

There might be a possibility that you have added some friends that will automatically get access to files you create. Remove them manually. I believe this should solve the problem.

  10. For me, this spreadsheet yields random, invalid data. It claims I have 2 Lava planets, a Plasma, and a Storm, whereas in reality I just have 2 Plasma. Am I doing something wrong?

    1. It doesn't know what planets you have. You have to select them manually. Read the Help tab to learn how to set up everything.
